Henry George and Leo Tolstoy

Leo Tolstoy gained the reputation as one of Russia’s leading writers. Later in his life he became active in the pursuit of social and economic justice. Tolstoy had a huge respect for Henry George who he regarded as his “friend”. He became a vociferous advocate of George’s ideas .

This talk will explore the influence of Henry George on Tolstoy particularly in his last great novel “Resurrection.”
